Every single vote counts!

Elections have been WON or LOST based on just a handful of votes. The votes of just a few people can decide if we elect a progressive candidate or someone who wants to revive the Confederacy. YOU hold the power of helping to choose the leaders and laws of our community, state, and nation.

It only takes a few minutes to register to vote, update your address or name, check your voter registration, find your polling place, or the Districts to which you are assigned.

To Register to vote in Alabama you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a citizen of the United States.

  • You must live in the State of Alabama.

  • You must be at least 18 years of age on or before election day.

  • You must not be barred from voting by reason of a disqualifying felony conviction.

  • You must not have been judged "mentally incompetent" in a court of law.”

NOTES:

Click here to register or to update your registration online. Online is highly recommended because it is faster and much more accurate (with far less risks of missing or illegible information, rejection, or a form getting lost in the mail). But if you do not yet have an AL Driver's license or a Non-Driver's ID, you will need to complete a paper form and hand-carry it for checking and verification (recommended versus mailing) to the registrar location indicated on the form.

My Voter Information

Click here to confirm your registration status, ballot status, polling location, and Districts to which you are assigned. Note if you have just registered or have updated your voter information, it may take 2 weeks for your status to be updated.

If you need to complete a paper form click here for a fillable form, which can then be printed and mailed or hand-carried to the Registrar’s office address given on the form.
A week or two after you register or update your information, you should receive a voter registration card in the regular mail. This card will tell you where to vote. It is not needed when you vote, and it will NOT act as a voter ID.

  • the only registration status which authorizes you to vote is “Registered Active”. If you have any other status and do not understand how to correct it, see HELP Resources bottom of this page.

  • ballot status is applicable only if you have an Absentee or Provisional ballot pending

  • Limestone County is divided into many different legislative districts. FOR EXAMPLE, you may be assigned to County School BOE District 1, County Commission District 3, AL State House District 4, AL Senate District 3, U.S. Congressional District 5, and so forth!

Absentee Voting Information

vote_absentee.png

There are many rules and steps and deadline requirements for voting by Absentee Ballot. Once you submit an Application for Absentee ballot, your name will be stricken from the list of qualified electors for in-person voting at your precinct. Once you submit the Application, it is difficult to later change to in-person voting. A separate envelope is required for each application regardless of whether applicants are in the same household. If hand-carrying the Application to the Absentee Election Manager, only the voter may hand the application to the Absentee Election Manager (it cannot be delivered by any other person). You will need to allow at least 7 days for each step regarding delivery by mail.

Alabama Voter ID Requirements

A valid photo ID must be presented when voting. Your voter registration card is NOT a valid voter ID.
